Murfreesboro, in Hertford County, is on the Meherrin River in
northeastern North Carolina between the Roanoke and Chowan rivers. It
is served by State Highway 11 and US Highways 158 and 258, only 50
miles south of Norfolk, VA, 80 miles southwest of Virginia Beach, VA,
and 100 miles west of the North Carolina Outer Banks.
Murfreesboro has a long history of education, agriculture and quiet
country living. This quaint village is currently undergoing an
extensive restoration program. Hundreds of citizens and friends are
working together to re-capture the flavor of a culturally-minded
Colonial town.
Fishing,
boating, swimming and hunting are popular here. Game includes deer,
wild turkey and quail. Bass, trout, perch and other species provide

corn, soybeans and tobacco.
