Murfreesboro, in
Hertford County, is on the Meherrin River in northeastern North
Carolina between the Roanoke and Chowan rivers.
It is served by State Highway 11 and US Highways 158 and 258, only 50
miles south of Norfolk, VA, 80 miles southwest of Virginia Beach, VA,
and 100 miles west of the North Carolina Outer Banks.
Fishing, boating, swimming and hunting are popular activities here.
Bass, trout, perch and other species provide sport for anglers. Like
the Roanoke River, the Chowan is a major contributor of fresh water to
the Albemarle Sound. It's a great place to paddle, fish, hunt, camp or
just visit.
When you tour historic
Murfreesboro you'll discover the boyhood home of Dr. Walter Reed,
discoverer of the cure for yellow fever. You'll also want to check out
an extensive museum with a |
|
section devoted to the inventions of
Richard Jordan Gatling, inventor of the Gatling gun.
As you can tell, there is much
to see and do in the area. Come on by our United Country office soon
and let us give you a hand with all your real estate needs and
dreams
